Midstream is a term used to describe one of the three major stages of the energy industry. Midstream activities include the processing, storing, transporting, and marketing of oil, natural gas, and natural gas liquids.

Midstream activities rely on the long-term stability of fluids and gases from upstream operations to downstream processing. These gases and fluids must be conditioned and stabilized with additives in most cases to ensure they meet the defined specification upon receipt and delivery.

Customer Challenges and Pain Points

Gases and liquids can contain by-products which in some cases can cause corrosion to midstream infrastructure or create restrictions in process flow due to precipitating organic and inorganic components of the product. Temperature and pressure play a key role in the homogeneity of the products as they flow and are stored from point-to-point which must be addressed with stabilizers and inhibitors. Microbiological components of the naturally produced oil and gas are also monitored and treated with biocides to ensure corrosive by-products and solids do not affect the integrity of midstream assets.

Solugen Solution

Solugen provides chemical solutions to the midstream operations to address the challenges in processing, storing, and transporting oil, water, natural gas, and liquids. Solugen’s proprietary core technologies are capable of long-term scale inhibition, corrosion protection, and microbiological control to ensure consistent product delivery from upstream to downstream operations. Solugen’s solutions are utilized throughout the three major stages of oil and gas operations to ensure compatibility with other additives in this critically important operational process.

ScaleSol™ is Solugen’s flagship scale control product line that is an environmentally acceptable replacement for phosphonates. It targets calcium, magnesium, and iron-induced scale buildup and formation in midstream infrastructure.

ScavSol® is a multivalent sequestrant to inhibit precipitating metal salts in midstream operations. It is unique in that it does not contain sulfates which can contribute to microbiological growth, corrosion, and hydrogen sulfide evolution.

CorrSol™ is designed to prevent under-deposit corrosion, fouling, and maintain clean operating surfaces to reduce corrosion in tubulars and flowlines in high and low brine fluids.
